Skip Ghost when:

1. You need ecommerce beyond memberships. Ghost handles paid content well, but it does not sell products. WooCommerce, Shopify, or even Gumroad serve that need better.

2. You depend on the WordPress plugin ecosystem. No Yoast, no WooCommerce, no LearnDash, no Elementor. If your business uses these, switching to Ghost means rebuilding workflows.

3. Editors need a visual page builder. Ghost's editor is markdown-style. WordPress Gutenberg, Squarespace, or Webflow are dramatically better for non-writers building layouts.

4. You want ad monetization at scale. Mediavine, Raptive, AdThrive all integrate cleanly with WordPress. Ghost ad integration is manual and limited.

5. You need complex membership tiers. Ghost handles 1-3 tiers cleanly. For 5+ tiers with different content rules, MemberPress on WordPress is more flexible.
