A gym or fitness studio website costs $2,200–$11,000 with a freelancer or $5,500–$28,000 with an agency in 2026. From my 600-project sample, the median build came in at $5,400 — higher than other local services because class scheduling, membership signup, and trial offers all add real dev work. Calculator gives you the exact number for your scope.
I've scoped 18 fitness projects since 2022: CrossFit boxes, boxing gyms, two boutique HIIT chains, a yoga + pilates hybrid, a martial arts academy, two small commercial gyms. Pattern: owners blow $3K on a hero video and forget the class scheduler ends up being $4K of dev.
| Scope | Freelancer | Agency |
|---|---|---|
| Single-location starter | $2,200 – $4,500 | $5,500 – $10,000 |
| Studio + booking + membership | $4,500 – $7,500 | $10,000 – $18,000 |
| Multi-class + apps + waivers | $7,500 – $11,000 | $18,000 – $28,000 |
| Chain / franchise | $12,000 – $25,000+ | $28,000 – $65,000+ |
Geographic modifier matters a lot here — same scope in EE is 0.55× of US, so a $5,400 US build is roughly $2,970 in Bucharest or Sofia. See my country cost guide.
What actually drives gym website cost
1. Class scheduling / booking platform. This is the single biggest line. MindBody iframe: $200. MindBody Branded App + custom UI: $4,500–$8,000. Mariana Tek deep integration (CrossFit boxes): $3,500–$6,500. Pike13: $1,200–$3,000.
2. Membership signup flow. Real online signup with waiver + Stripe + intro offer = $1,800–$4,500. Most gyms half-ass this and lose 30% of would-be signups to a broken mobile form.
3. Trial offer landing pages. Each promo ("7-day free trial," "$1 first week") needs its own page with proper tracking. $250–$500 per page. Most successful gyms run 4–8 of these.
4. Class type pages. HIIT, yoga flow, boxing fundamentals, weightlifting — each is $150–$300 with SEO. A boutique with 12 class types = $1,800–$3,600.
5. Trainer bio pages. $80–$180 each. A 10-trainer studio adds $800–$1,800.
6. Waivers + e-sign. $400–$1,200 for HelloSign / Docusign integration. Required in 47 states.
Complexity modifier sits at 1.4× standard, 1.9× for studios with full custom membership portals.
Best platform for fitness studios
WordPress + Astra/Kadence + MindBody plugin. 60% of small studios. Cheap, flexible, good performance. Pair with Cloudways at $14–$25/mo.
Webflow. Strong for visual brands (yoga, pilates, boutique HIIT). Class booking still goes through MindBody/Mariana Tek iframe though. Build cost: $4,500–$11,000.
Squarespace + Acuity. Acceptable for solo trainers and yoga teachers under 6 class types. Past that, the SEO and customization ceiling hits. See my yoga studio post.
Custom Next.js + headless MindBody. Big-budget option for premium boutique chains (think Barry's, F45 corporate). Cost: $24K–$80K. Worth it only above $2M revenue.
Native fitness platforms (WellnessLiving, Glofox, Vagaro micro-sites). Bundled with your scheduler. You don't own the SEO. Migration later: $4,500–$8,500. Skip.
For premium WP hosting at scale (boutique chains with 6+ locations), Kinsta at $35–$70/mo keeps the class signup flow snappy when 200 people refresh at 5:55 PM for the 6 PM class.

Ongoing cost — gym websites have higher tool bills
| Item | Monthly | Annual |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting | $14–$45 | $170–$540 |
| Domain | $1.50 | $18 |
| Maintenance | $80–$200 | $960–$2,400 |
| MindBody / Mariana Tek / Glofox | $129–$395 | $1,548–$4,740 |
| Local SEO | $350–$900 | $4,200–$10,800 |
| Email marketing (Mailchimp/Klaviyo) | $30–$300 | $360–$3,600 |
| SMS marketing (Twilio/Heymarket) | $50–$200 | $600–$2,400 |
| Reviews tool | $150–$450 | $1,800–$5,400 |
| Total minimum | $803 | $9,656 |
The scheduler subscription is mandatory — that's just the cost of running a class-based studio. Email + SMS is where most studios under-invest and leave 25% of trial-to-member conversion on the table.
Who to hire
Under $5K: WordPress freelancer with one prior gym project. Verify by checking their portfolio site speeds — gym sites with sub-2s LCP are rare.
$5K–$15K: Senior freelancer + Mariana Tek/MindBody integration specialist. The integration is the make-or-break. Upwork is fine for design, Toptal for the API work.
$15K+: Fitness-specialist agency (Gym Marketing Lab, Loud Rumor, Fitness Marketing Agency). They know the playbook for $1 intro offers + paid acquisition + nurture.
The mistake I see most: hiring a "wellness brand" agency that's all logo and no Mariana Tek experience. Beautiful site, broken signup flow. Verify integration experience before paying anyone.
ROI math
Average gym member LTV: $1,400 (commercial) to $4,200 (boutique). A reasonably optimized fitness site converts 7–12% of traffic to a trial signup, with 30–45% trial-to-paid conversion.
A $6,200 site bringing 800 monthly visitors at 9% trial conversion = 72 trials/mo. At 38% trial-to-paid and $2,800 LTV (boutique), that's $76,608 in monthly attributable LTV.
The trap: spending $6,200 on a site with no intro offer landing page, no SMS follow-up, no booking widget on the homepage. That site converts at 1–2% and pays back in 18 months instead of 2 weeks.
